Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions
We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
Do you want to help build a new fantastic adapted primary school together with knowledgeable and experienced colleagues? Then this is the position for you!
We offer
We offer you a great working environment with wonderful students and many colleagues who have been with us for a long time. This contributes to a pleasant, well-functioning, and successful school. We care about your well-being as an employee, and therefore we go the extra mile for our staff. We work and develop together with a genuine interest in our students' learning and development.
As an employee of the City of Stockholm, you receive an annual wellness allowance of 3000 SEK. Before the start of the term in autumn 2026, Skanskvarnsskolan will have approximately 700 students from preschool class to grade 9 in primary school, as well as a growing adapted primary school with students from preschool class to grade 5. About 110 staff members work together to make their school day safe and filled with opportunities for acquiring knowledge and development.
The school has newly renovated premises in the older beautiful heritage-listed building as well as completely newly built facilities for school and after-school care, sports, kitchen, and school restaurant. The school is beautifully located by Årstaviken and has good transport connections at Gullmarsplan. The school's vision underpins all activities: "A school that holds together - for the student's best every day".
In the school year 2024/25, we began the establishment of a new adapted primary school. In the autumn, we will expand the operation with another student group. The operation will have two classes with about 6–8 students in each group during the coming school year. The plan is for the operation to continue to grow and, in a couple of years, encompass 24 students from preschool class to grade 9.
As a special teacher in an adapted primary school under construction, you will have great opportunities to shape the operation together with your colleagues in the team.
Your role
We are looking for someone who wants to work specifically in the adapted primary school! You will be the class teacher for one of the classes and responsible for challenging the students to optimal learning, both in groups and individually, based on their conditions. You will teach your students in all relevant subjects/subject areas, except for music, crafts, sports, and home economics. In these subjects, students are taught by the school's subject teachers.
Since our operation is based on relationships, it is important that you are a person who enjoys and finds it easy to collaborate closely with your students, their guardians, your colleagues, and school management. The team you are part of collaborates on the students' teaching, breaks, and care needs during the school day.
Your qualifications and experience
You are a special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities, have a genuine interest in working in an adapted primary school, and are qualified to teach both subjects and subject areas. You are accustomed to conducting assessment support, writing pedagogical assessments, and investigations for special support. You master the Swedish language both in speech and writing. You are meticulous and structured in your documentation.
You have knowledge and experience in using AAC, visual support, and other compensatory aids, as well as in using digital learning tools. You are relational, attentive, and clear in your pedagogical leadership and have the ability to motivate and create learning environments focused on inclusion and student influence. You have a low-arousal approach and can handle pressured situations that arise around students with challenging behavior. Of course, you are a clear and secure leader in the classroom.
We place great importance on personal suitability for the position! Warm welcome to your application! The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at ensuring each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
